6 Bar mleczny Rusałka
If you would like to get to know the Polish way of life a bit more, you should definitely try some of our Polish food. During the PRL times, there were a lot of milk bars all over the country. Few of them still remain, and one of them is Rusałka. Bar mleczny, which is polish for milk bar, is a place where you can fill your gut almost for free. The prices are naturally lower than in normal restaurants and they offer traditional Polish cuisine, which you can enjoy surrounded by typical communist interior. You can get more information on their Facebook page.
The Old Town – probably the first place you’re gonna visit in Warsaw. While you’re there, make sure to go to Zapiecek restaurant. This typical polish cuisine restaurant is located in the market square in the old town. From tasty pierogi to delicious szarlotka, the variety of food will surely get you hooked. You can sit outside and enjoy the beautiful sunshine creeping between the old buildings. You can get more information on their website.
8 U Szwejka
While we’re still in the Polish cuisine, let me suggest you yet another Polish restaurant. This one is close to the hostel – just at the Constitution Square! After paying the bill, you get a free cherry vodka shot to make your evening more cheerful. Every day you can enjoy great live music in the evening, which is a perfect addition to your dinner. It’s just a short walk from the hostel, but if you’re having troubles getting there from Chillout, ask the receptionists – they surely know the way. You can get more information on their website.
If you’re looking for a one of a kind restaurant with exotic cuisine, we have the best place for you. Sokotra is a restaurant which specializes in Indian and Yemeni cuisine. Their name comes from an archipelago of islands located in the Arabian sea – Socotra. You can either choose a spicy traditional dish or something more mild and modern. If you want to try the Indian/Yemeni way of eating, you can ask for a “sitting table” in a secluded part. Sounds intriguing, right? You can get more information on their facebook page.
10 Saint Jacques
One last restaurant that’s left on the list is Saint Jacques. This is a recommendation from our receptionist and their ex-waiter. The restaurant specializes in french cuisine, as the name suggests. It is located in the Sródmieście, so you can either take a bus, or just enjoy a walk in the sunshine to get there. This is not the cheapest restaurant, but the quality of the food is a great compensation for the price. And their créme brulée is to die for! You can get more information on their website.
