International Chopin Music Festival and his Europe – an international music festival in Warsaw organised by the Fryderyk Chopin Institute presenting European music from classicism to the present in the context of connection with the life and work of the Polish pianist, composer and pedagogue – Frederic Chopin. The festival’s highlight is the performance of some of Erard’s 1849 historical piano pieces, Pleyel’s 1848 and Graffiti’s 1819 copy.
The concerts take place in the Concert Hall and the National Chamber Philharmonic, Polish Radio Concert Studio named Witold Lutoslawski, on the stage of Teatr Wielki which is National Opera and in Fryderyk Chopin Birthplace in Żelazowa Wola.
This year’s edition is from 12th to 30th of August.
- Inaguration: 12th of August at 5 p.m in the National Philharmonic Concert Hall. Eric Lu, a young American pianist, who won the 4th prize at the International Piano Competition named Fryderyk Chopin in Warsaw at the age of 17 will begin the concerts. Later, at 8 pm will be held Symphony Concert conducted by Jan Lisiecki on piano with the help of the Beethoven Academy Orchestra and Jack Kaspszyk as conductor.
- 21st of August at 5 p.m in the Hall of the Great Royal Palace in Warsaw there will be a Chamber Concert conducted by Andreas Staier along with Lorenzo Coppola on the clarinet.
- 30th of August, on the last day of the festival, there will be piano recital conducted by Nelson Goerner, who is one of the most distinguished pianists of his generation. In program you can also listen music playing by Franz Schubert, Leopold Godowski and Fryderyk Chopin.
